AMD Athlon64 X2

Posted by lorenb on Apr 20, 2005 in technology

According to the Inquirer, AMD is going to release it’s dual core Athlon64 chips (called X2) tomorrow with the dual core Opertons.

The initial X2 chips will come in the following speeds 4200+, 4400+, 4600+ and fastest at 4800+. They guys at the Inq didn’t know what the clock speeds were.

Figures this happens right after I buy my two new Athlon64 systems. Oh well, it happens. I should be able to upgrade down the road with just a BIOS update anyway.

Maybe after they start dropping in price I’ll pick one up for my Gentoo box. Or maybe I’ll just hold out for a quad core AMD K9 :)

New Parser Code / Logging Support

Posted by lorenb on Apr 20, 2005 in gnome, projects

I’ve now converted the OvalReader class to use my new parser. Removed all the old code and things are starting to look good.

Next up is to remove the various Console.WriteLine ()s and implement some real logging support. I’ve already written the Logger class it’s part of Sussen.Util; so it’s really just a matter of putting the calls in the right place and testing various logging levels.
